Classic Yacht: Eye
of the Wind |

|
| Eye of The Wind - one of the prettiest small tall ships operating in the Caribbean. Originally named "Friedrich" she was built in 1911 in Germany as a gaff-rigged topsail schooner freighter. She was later renamed "Merry" and continued carrying general cargo for many years, over which time an engine was installed and her rig was extensively reduced. She was
re-launched in 1974 in the UK after extensive rebuilding as Eye of the Wind with a fine brigantine rig.

After her first round-the-world adventure she became the flagship for Operation Drake, a two year round the World expedition involving 414 "Young Explorers" from 27 countries. Her role as a major youth sail training ship continued until May 2001 when she was finally handed over by Tiger Timbs her owner and Captain for 28 years.
In September 2001 in Denmark, the new owners completed a massive refit of Eye of The Wind. With no part of the ship left untouched, Eye of The Wind has emerged from this refit, as a luxurious, comfortable and more sophisticated vessel. Eye of The Wind is now, once again, ready for Ocean voyages journeys of adventure and discovery ideally for eight guests or 12 maximum.

| The interior has been totally rebuilt to provide full air-conditioned accommodation for up to 10 guests (14 at an absolute maximum). Down below, she is beautifully paneled in mahogany with solid handcrafted fittings in the formal saloon dining room and cabins, all finished off with elegant brass fittings and traditional ships lamps. Fine crystal & china are the standard for elegant dinners at anchor. There are four guest cabins each with a double bed and an upper single. In addition, there is also the Owners Cabin. Each cabin has ensuite head and shower. The new and very well equipped galley is on the main deck and forms part of a friendly open-plan galley, bar and informal dining room. New decks, new sails, new running rigging, new engine room and navigation equipment complete the refit.
