Classic Yacht: Eleonora |
This beautiful classic
gaff-rigged schooner is a magnificent new yacht, inspired by
the legendary Westward which was designed by Nathaniel
Herreshoff and launched in 1910. Built of steel at the Van der
Graff shipyard in Holland, Eleonora is 162ft long including
bowsprit, and incorporates all of today's safety standards
and building regulations. |

Eleonora is also a luxury charter yacht and she features all
of the modern features expected in a luxury yacht such as
air-conditioning, refrigeration and roomy accommodation.
She has ensuite facilities for eight guests and seven crew.
Her
interior is beautifully finished in an authentic style. She is
a breathtaking sight under sail and can match the performance
of 16 knots for which Westward was famous, despite the main
boom being several feet shorter. Her long and curving teak
decks are clear except for the traditional hatches and deck
fittings.

Down below, she has mahogany paneling, relieved in the
cabins by white painted panels to lighten the overall
ambiance. Silver-plated drawer pulls, brass hinges and
intricate fiddles around shelves and cabinet tops maintain
the classic look throughout. Accommodation is in four cabins.
The full-beam master cabin also incorporates an elegant
seating area. There are two further guest cabins and a twin
cabin, each with ensuite facilities. The large main saloon can
be set up for formal dining, but a favourite dining area will
be the foredeck under the massive awning. |

Eleonora was the star of the recent charter show here in
Antigua. She is now available for charter and her looks, luxury
accommodation and handling and motion when under sail will
delight classic yacht lovers and discerning charter
guests.
